Hello from Psion

Hello. After these guys got hit with the C&D it became clear to me that, in my Geocore project, I had what they just got taken from them. After carefully considering it for a day I asked them to accept me on the team as a designer/director. While I have not been officially titled yet, I have been welcomed to the team and I have gotten to play what these guys have, and I must say that pausing Geocore to work on this with these guys is the smart thing to do for both us devs and the community that has been waiting so SO long for a new proper 6DOF. The Proving Grounds release is going to really impress a lot of people, and we are all dedicated to the right cause, no conflict, no close minded attitudes, these guys are all amazingly cool and I am going to give them my all.

I have seen some people say these guys made a marketing grab by using the Descent IP. Let me just put this out here for you: Descent players are not your average gamer. These guys love the game like all the pilots do, and we will travel the world to play this game. When the last entry of Descent came, we waited and waited and nothing happened. I took it upon myself to develop the next real descent spiritual successor, Geocore. I had a feeling Interplay was hungry to attack someone and so I skirted the IP properly and invented all my own stuff.

I went to school to learn to program, $60,000
in debt now just so I could make the game.

These guys are no different, and now they need new content and original IP. We all just want our game and since noone is going to make it, we are. It's not a marketing ploy. We love our game this much. When you are shooting someone in the mines and they stop moving, we stop shooting. That's Honor, and a lack of desire to fight someone who wont fight back. It's Respect, and an attempt to understand what happened on their end. Those are the qualities of a Descent veteran, and those same qualities that drive us to make this game. The effort here is to keep a great genre and its very special community that is so unique and specially balanced it is almost miraculous, alive. No ploys. Everyone who has sat in a Pyro knows these words ring true.
