Ati Lava Caves SS04 by 1DeViLiShDuDe Ati Lava Caves SS04 by 1DeViLiShDuDe
I found this really cool Descent like lava caves screensaver that the guys at ATI made when they still owned ATI, and here's some shots and a link to it on AMD's site! :D (Big Grin)

Creator's site: www.chrisoat.com/projects.html

Screensaver link: www.chrisoat.com/apps/ATI-9800…

I had this card when it was new, and I recently picked up another one off eBay, still got the screensaver. Oh the memories! haha

Really, although I seem to be having some trouble with the OpenGL drivers on Win7 - any trouble on your end with them, since most of the creative 3d modeling apps I used to run use it and won't run now.
I'm just glad some also use DX drivers too.

Hah, I've heard nothing but trouble about that. I have XP SP3 on this ol' fella.
2003 mobo, 9800, SBLive, 2002 gaming tower, 2002 LCD monitor...what a museum piece! xD

All I can say about the Win7 drivers and 9800 is good luck. If you mean the screensaver, that
may not be possible on a different card. Specifically coded stuff 'n all. My 4850 HD can't do it.

That's a bummer! :|
Not exactly sure why, but I've been told MS basically took steps to prevent many flavors of older OpenGL from running on vista & up without specific patches being installed to allow them, just one more reason for me to downgrade back to XP Ultimate or simply reinstall on another drive - but this time in x64 to at least be inline with newer apps.
So I won't need to worry about MSG preventing my system from being able to digest just about anything I feed it! I thought I was on the right path when I found a registry fix for the 9800 to bypass a faulty update, but as it turned out - I would most likely need to make my own custom install patch to sever the links between the OpenGL inhibitor and add my own for a custom enumerator & working(enhanced) OpenGL driver set, to likely be running in a slower compatibility mode but running.
Which as it happens is quite a bit of work just to keep my old x800ProGTOr420 8xAGP 450 256MB running on newer systems! :phew:

Actually, I would think the hardware coding would only be for the newest stuff that nobody else is even using yet, but I have run ATI, STB, 3DFX & nVidia made for other GFX SS brand names on different cards before, basically just depends on what chips are being used on the cards! :D
